Today is not just the union or connection between the two banks of the Arno and a bridge that is much more important because it is the oldest bridge in Florence making it the most visited. This bridge over the years has undergone numerous reconstructions as its structure has changed over the years.
These reconstructions took place from a flood that left the bridge destroyed. Since then changes the structure of the bridge and instead of the five original arches were three. It is a bridge with great tradition and are very lucky because in 1944 after the Nazis came out of Florence was ordered that all bridges were destroyed but no chance this bridge was demolished.
